Today was less about adding features and more about rethinking the direction of the game.
I spent time asking myself:
- What kind of experience do I want players to have?
- What kind of game do I actually want to make?
- How can I make players feel the music and atmosphere?
After thinking about it more, I realized I care less about pure action and more about:
- Music
- Atmosphere
- Quiet moments / pacing
- The feeling of walking through a world
On the implementation side, I experimented with:
- Camera look-ahead
- Pulling the camera back for better visibility
- A light trapezoid shader for pseudo-3D perspective
- Making the game feel more like a diagonal top-down view
One issue I’m thinking about now:
Right now, players can see almost everything immediately.
So I’m exploring ways to reveal things gradually and create more space between moments.
Today felt less like progress through features, and more like finding the game’s identity.
