Devlog # Building System Started - Walls and Windows
I started working on the foundation of the Building System.
The goal here is to make exploration feel larger and more alive by creating places that feel like they belong in the world, instead of only having combat spaces.
What I worked on
Window Prototype
I started with windows first.
Implemented:
- Square windows
- Window frame grid details
- Drawer-based structure
- Built with future multi-window support in mind
Even with a simple design, they already help buildings feel more recognizable.
Wall Prototype
Next step was walls.
Implemented:
- Wooden wall drawer
- Vertical plank details
- Wall-based positioning system
After placing windows onto walls, houses finally started looking like actual buildings instead of isolated parts.
Things learned during implementation
Using walls as the base reference point made the structure much easier to organize.
Wall ↓ Window ↓ Door ↓ Decoration
This workflow should make procedural building generation easier later.
Right now, procedural drawing already feels promising for mass-producing houses and villages.
Next Steps
- Roof Drawer
- Door Drawer
- HouseData design
- Small house prototype
- Village prototype
Slowly building toward a world that feels worth exploring, not just fighting through.
